As a woman in a family of wrestlers, she was encouraged to take school seriously. She got to train, wrestle, and fill in whenever a substitute was needed for a match, but never allowed to pursue the career of a wrestler by her family, instead hidden behind books and athletics. It was a fun facade that lasted her throughout her life, where she'd watch and learn from her siblings who got to explore her passion, as she channeled that envy into academics and athletics. After using her education to explore the cultural significance of combat sports, more and more of her academic pursuits became about wrestling and fighting until one day, she couldn't 'dabble' anymore. She was hooked.
