"Hell Broke Luce" by Tom Waits assaults the arena's sound system as the house lights dim to a dull blue, a steady fog and strobe lights begin to gather at the entrance. With the pop of a single pyro, Matt Knox rises from the fog dressed in his ring pants, boots and a sleeveless hoodie. He throws the hood off, and takes in the audience a moment before making his way down to the ring, limbering up. He rolls in under the bottom rope and leaps to his feet, throwing a few practice kicks for the sake of pomp and circumstance. He raises his arms once more to the crowd, and picks a corner to crouch in, waiting for his opponent to arrive.

BIOGRAPHY
You know that old, tired saying about how a dog chases cars but wouldn't know what to do if they were to ever catch one? For a time, that defined who Matt Knox was. Once a rising star in the industry with a long list of accolades, he disappeared after winning his first World Title in the now defunct Phoenix Wrestling Enterprise. He had been injured during the tournament to crown the company's initial world champion, but failed to disclose it to medical. Instead, he self medicated with booze first. Then pills, Then it turned down that path so many in his profession turn down.
Addiction.
For over a decade, Knox would be a shut in. Cutting contact with his wife and young children, and falling into a pit of self inflicted despair until his own ego, and a good friend dragged him out in June 2020. He would return to wrestling, finding success after a rocky start in Carnage Wrestling. In his personal life, he would find a measure of redemption after reconnecting with his oldest daughter, Hope.
As a man, Knox is generally old school and honor bound. He has a healthy love for the works of Poe, and a foul mouth that gets him into fights and wars alike.

Hope Adriana Knox had a similar upbringing to Matthew. More dimebags than hugs to be found between her parents. Fortunately, her departure from her parents was far less tragic. Matthew adopted her at the height of his career, after a perchance meeting at a charity event for the orphanage she was living in. Now grown, she is a cerebral person who spends most of her time picking apart the world around her. Knox's relationship with her is still mending after he abandoned her with her stepmother in 2008. They reunited not long ago, and after working through the initial friction they are working toward some form of normalcy that eluded the both of them for most of their lives

Bert was a mark for FWF when he was a kid, and his favorite wrestler was none other than the high flying, face painted, youthful Matthew Knox that existed at the time. Through a chance meeting later in both their lives, Bert became something of a confidant and pillar for Knox while he was at his lowest. It was through his machinations that got Knox into the business once more. Bert, as he has been for the past eight years, has come along for the ride. Now, he serves as Knox's primary sparring partner, pupil, and best friend.
